Pilgrim's Way

Area Attractions

When you come to Pilgrim’s Way Bed and Breakfast, you are coming to the perfect place to make the most of your Finger Lakes vacation.

You will find Pilgrim’s Way Bed and Breakfast cradled within one of the most beautiful areas of the northeast – The New York State Finger Lakes Region. Ever-changing vistas of rolling hills and open skies, waterfalls, and sparkling lakes are all around us.

The Wineries of the Finger Lakes

Many of our guests come to see the Finger Lakes Wine Country and travel the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. We are only a short drive to the Keuka Lake Wine Trail and the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail.

Check for a list of each lake’s wineries and their calendar of “Trail Events” by visiting www.SenecaLakeWine.com, www.KeukaWineTrail.com, and www.cayugawinetrail.com. The Schuyler County Chamber of Commerce: www.watkinsglenchamber.com and the Yates County Chamber of Commerce: www.yatesny.com, also list the Wine Trail events and various other attractions and activities in our area.

Watkins International Speedway

Road racing has been celebrated in Watkins Glen for over fifty years. The racing community returns each year to the glen for various events. IRL and NASCAR racing at the Watkins Glen International Speedway always attract a large number of fans. The US Vintage Grand Prix is another favorite, always raced on the first weekend after Labor Day. The racing calendar of events also includes the SCCA Glen Super Nationals and antique car rallies. Visit www.TheGlen.com for more information.

State Parks

The gorge at Watkins Glen State Park is the best known in the Finger Lakes Region. The two-mile trough was scoured by glaciers, creating 19 waterfalls and 300-ft shale and sandstone cliffs. Foot trails follow the rim of the gorge, some of them blazed centuries ago by Native Americans. Many steep trails have stone steps and pass through caverns behind waterfalls. The park is an excellent place for backpackers to pick up the Finger Lakes Trail which traverses the State of New York. The state park has 300 campsites, active recreation programs, and two prime fishing lakes. Watkins Glen State Park is open year-round. Their web site is www.nysparks.state.ny.us.

You can find other state parks with gorges, waterfalls, and hiking at www.nysparks.state.ny.us which include Taughannock Falls in Trumansburg, Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca, Robert H. Treman in Ithaca, and Stony Brook in Danville. While on the site, you can also look at the list of lakefront parks, public marinas, and boat launches.

The Erie Canal National Heritage Corridor is another attraction which appeals to the explorer as well as the history buff. Their site is www.eriecanalway.org.

The Windmill Market

Take some time to experience the Mennonite and Amish culture in our area when you visit the Windmill Farm and Craft Market, on route 14a, 6 miles north of Dundee. Many Mennonite and Amish bring their food, plants, handmade furniture, quilts, and crafts there to sell. It's quite the attraction, open Saturdays only from April through December.
